India, U.K. hold virtual talks to boost trade under 2025 pact

New Delhi: India and the U.K. on Friday discussed ways to boost two-way commerce and investments and leverage opportunities under the comprehensive economic and trade agreement signed in July last year.

The bilateral trade agenda was taken up during a virtual meeting between Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and U.K. Secretary of State for Business and Trade Peter Kyle.

Both sides reviewed progress since the trade agreement was signed in July 2025 and explored steps to deepen cooperation. The discussions focused on expanding market access, increasing investments, and identifying sector-specific opportunities for businesses in both countries.

The comprehensive economic and trade agreement was signed to strengthen economic ties and reduce trade barriers between the two nations. Friday’s meeting signals continued engagement at the ministerial level to implement the pact.
