India, New Zealand to sign FTA April 27, granting Indian exporters 100% duty-free access

New Delhi: India and New Zealand will sign a Free Trade Agreement on Monday, April 27, 2026, that removes tariffs on 100% of India’s exports to New Zealand and sharply reduces or eliminates duties on 95% of current imports from New Zealand.

The pact is one of the fastest-negotiated trade agreements India has entered into. Negotiations were announced in March 2025 and concluded by December that same year.

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal welcomed New Zealand’s Minister for Trade & Investment Todd McClay to New Delhi on Saturday, April 25, ahead of the signing. Goyal shared images of the meeting on social media, signaling the close coordination between the two sides.

The FTA is expected to boost bilateral trade by giving Indian exporters duty-free access across sectors, while opening the Indian market to New Zealand goods with reduced or zero tariffs on most current imports. Officials said the agreement covers goods, services, and investment, aiming to deepen economic ties and supply-chain links.
