Gunjan Saini’s ‘Heroine’ to bring stories of self-worth to Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Spoken word poet Gunjan Saini is set to debut her latest show Heroine in Bengaluru, before taking it to four other cities across India.
The performance centers on self-worth and the personal hurdles women face in defining it. Saini, known for addressing issues of identity and confidence on stage, said the show draws from her own experiences growing up in a household marked by gender disparity.
“We would compare ourselves to the ladies we saw on television who were fair-skinned, beautiful and well-turned-out,” Saini said. “I believe our issues over our self worth stemmed from there.”
