Empowering Education: 86-Year-old woman breaks barriers with literacy test

In a remarkable display of determination, 86-year-old Anusuya Bai Wadekar from Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar district has taken a significant step towards literacy by appearing for a formal exam under the ULLAS Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram.

Wadekar, who never had the opportunity to attend school, learned to read and write at home with the help of local volunteers and her family. Her achievement is a testament to the power of education and the impact of initiatives aimed at promoting literacy among adults.

The exam, part of a larger initiative to promote literacy, saw over 3,742 individuals participate in the region. Wadekar’s story has inspired many, including her family members, who express pride in her achievement.
