Dutch consortium launches AI-powered greenhouse project in India for pesticide-free farming

New Delhi: India’s horticultural sector is set to get a hi-tech boost as the Dutch government embarks on a collaborative project to help produce pesticide-free food in state-of-the-art greenhouses powered by AI for precision.

The initiative focuses on technologies and practices that enable climate-resilient food production, with an emphasis on water conservation and energy efficiency.

To take the project forward in India, the Dutch horticultural sector has formed a public-private partnership called HortiRoad2India. The consortium is now ready to forge alliances with stakeholders in India.

The greenhouses will use AI-driven systems for precision farming, aiming to cut pesticide use, optimize water, and reduce energy consumption while maintaining high yields.
