CureBay: Bridging the healthcare gap in rural India

Priyadarshi Mahapatra, a former Google Cloud director, quit his job in 2021 to launch CureBay, a healthtech startup aimed at providing affordable healthcare to rural residents. The decision was sparked by his personal experience during the pandemic, when his wife faced difficulties accessing healthcare services.

Mahapatra recalls, “During the pandemic, my wife had a health issue. I was confused as to what to do and where to go, because healthcare services had been affected [due to COVID].” This experience made him realize the struggles faced by people in remote areas, where healthcare infrastructure is lacking.

CureBay, founded by Mahapatra, Shobhan Mahapatra, and Sanjay Swain, offers medical consultation at just Rs 99 and has expanded to over 32 districts in Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The startup has raised $35.4M in funding and has served over 5.5 lakh unique patients.
