‘Concert economy’ to drive growth in India’s pro audio, AV and lighting industry

Mumbai: India’s professional audio, audio visual, lighting, live entertainment and systems integration industry is set for a major boost from the country’s growing “concert economy”, industry executives said.

The concert economy covers live events, music shows at pubs and hotels, wedding functions, and large-scale audio visual and light shows. The segment has gained prominence in the past few years as demand for live experiences rises across cities.

Executives said spending on high-end sound, lighting rigs, LED walls and integrated AV systems is increasing as venues and event organizers compete on production quality. Weddings and private events are also adopting concert-grade setups, expanding the market beyond traditional stadium shows.

The shift is creating new business for equipment rental firms, system integrators, and domestic manufacturers. Training and skilled technicians are also seeing higher demand to operate complex setups.

Industry players expect the trend to accelerate with more international artists touring India and domestic music festivals expanding to tier-2 cities.
