British Airways boosts India-UK flights amid rising demand

British Airways is expanding its operations between India and the UK, adding more flights and deploying larger aircraft to meet growing demand. The airline has seen a 196% surge in travel searches, prompting it to add over 7,000 seats a week from India. At its peak, British Airways will operate up to 70 weekly flights between India and London Heathrow.

The increased capacity is a response to disruptions in connections via Gulf hubs, with British Airways capitalizing on the opportunity to offer more direct travel options. The airline will introduce a third daily flight between Delhi and London Heathrow in 2026, subject to regulatory approval, and has reintroduced its First cabin on Mumbai flights.

British Airways currently operates 56 direct services to five Indian cities each week, with plans to further expand its network. The airline’s Chairman and CEO, Sean Doyle, emphasized the importance of India to British Airways, citing the country’s strong trade and cultural ties with the UK.
