Bengaluru’s ‘Crafty’ community to mark 100th meetup with one-day craft fest
Bengaluru: Bengaluru’s DIY craft collective Crafty is celebrating a major milestone — its 100th meetup — with a one-day craft festival that brings together makers, beginners, and hobbyists from across the city.
What started as a small crochet circle has grown into a vibrant community space where people gather to explore embroidery, knitting, punch needle, and other crafts. Many members join to learn the basics, while experienced crafters mentor newcomers. The group has become more than just a hobby club — it’s now a social space where members celebrate birthdays, form friendships, and even collaborate professionally.
“Croch et would be seen as a girly thing in the past but it definitely doesn’t feel like that now,” said a Crafty member, noting that many men regularly attend the meetups. The community has also gone beyond Bengaluru, recently launching a Mumbai chapter, with plans to expand to more cities.
The 100th meetup celebration highlights Crafty’s focus on creativity, connection, and inclusivity. Participants can expect hands-on sessions, stalls showcasing handmade products, and space to simply craft together over snacks. The group has earlier hosted a collective stall at The Festival of Handmade by A Hundred Hands in November 2025, where members displayed and sold handcrafted products to a strong response.
Founded by makers who wanted a regular, welcoming space to create, Crafty meets every Sunday at the same time and location, ensuring the community keeps going even when organizers are traveling.
The one-day fest aims to mark the community’s growth from a small park gathering to a city-wide movement that challenges stereotypes around craft and makes handmade culture accessible to everyone.
