Autistic bowler achieves dream of perfect game
Matt Sipes, an autistic bowler, made history on March 25 by scoring his first-ever 300 game in the Professional Bowlers Association. The achievement is a testament to Sipes’ dedication and perseverance, having bowled competitively for 15 years.
Sipes, who began bowling at age six, credits the sport for giving him a sense of calm and belonging. He was awarded a scholarship to Judson University, where he competed collegiately, and has participated in leagues and tournaments across the US.”It’s something I’ve dreamed about my entire life,” Sipes said. “To finally achieve it feels almost surreal. I’m so grateful, and I hope I can inspire other athletes on the spectrum”.
Sipes’ mother, Christine, was overwhelmed with emotion as she watched her son achieve his dream. “It wasn’t just about the score—it was about seeing his hard work, resilience, and love for the sport come together in one unforgettable moment,” she said.
