AstaGuru’s ‘Collectors’ Choice’ auction traces evolution of Indian art, opens June 22
What makes an art auction memorable? Celebrated masters, rarity of works, or the stories in each piece. AstaGuru Auction House’s upcoming ‘Collectors’ Choice’ auction brings all three together with a curated selection tracing the evolution of modern and contemporary Indian art.
Scheduled for June 22 and 23, the online sale features paintings, sculptures, and works on paper by some of India’s most influential artists. It offers a chance to acquire works that have shaped India’s artistic legacy.
The lineup spans generations — from Raja Ravi Varma’s pioneering canvases to modernist visions by MF Husain, FN Souza, J Swaminathan, Ram Kumar and more. A notable highlight is a group of 22 sketches by master artist MV Dhurandhar, best known for his depictions of colonial-era Indian society.
