Malayalam short film ‘Country Boys’ regales viewers with humour and camaraderie

Kochi: Vishnu Devan’s Malayalam short film Country Boys is winning viewers over with its breezy tone, humour, and spirited performances, as it captures the mischief and warmth of school-day friendship.

Co-produced by Girish AD, the film follows a gang of four — Jithu, Kunjava, Kannankutty and Abhi — whose adventures range from quadruple-riding a bike without helmets to setting off an ‘ice cream bomb’ on top of a hill. Yet beneath the trouble-making lies a story of loyalty, with the boys having each other’s back when it matters.

“It is a lighthearted story about the predicament of four boys whose revenge plan takes a hilarious turn. We have conceptualised it as a simple film about friendship and growing up,” says director Vishnu Devan.

Described as a coming-of-age tale, Country Boys leans into nostalgia and camaraderie rather than drama, celebrating the small rebellions and big bonds of adolescence.
