Mumbai: Overall electric vehicle retail sales in India surged 66% year-on-year to 3,27,901 units in July 2026, according to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA). With this growth, nearly one in every eight vehicles sold in the country last month was electric.
The biggest driver of growth was the electric two-wheeler segment. For the first time, monthly retail sales crossed the 2 lakh mark, reaching 2,04,362 units, up 88% YoY. The segment also gained significant ground in overall market share. Electric two-wheelers accounted for 11.2% of total two-wheeler sales in July 2026, compared to 7.7% in the same month last year.
TVS Motor led the electric two-wheeler market during the month. The company retailed 55,499 units, registering a sharp 135% YoY increase.
The strong July numbers highlight accelerating EV adoption in India, with two-wheelers continuing to dominate the overall electric vehicle retail landscape.
