NMDC posts record Q1 iron ore output as June production jumps 44%

Hyderabad: Public sector miner NMDC Ltd reported a sharp rise in iron ore production and sales for June and the first quarter of FY26, setting new company records.

The firm said June iron ore production rose 44% year-on-year to 5.15 million tonnes compared with 3.57 MT a year earlier. Sales for the month increased to 3.98 MT from 3.58 MT in June 2024.

For the quarter ended June, NMDC produced 15.10 MT of iron ore, registering a 26% year-on-year increase. Sales stood at 11.75 MT, marking a 2% rise over the same period last year.

The company said it was the highest-ever first-quarter production and sales since its inception. The performance strengthens its position in India’s steel value chain, it added.

NMDC is the largest iron ore producer in the country and supplies key raw material to domestic steelmakers. The public sector firm has been expanding output to meet rising demand from the steel sector amid government infrastructure spending.

The miner did not disclose financial results for the quarter in the operational update.
