Kutch: Adani Group-owned Ambuja Cements on Monday, June 22, 2026, signed an agreement with U.K.-based Leilac Limited to develop a low-carbon cement project in Gujarat’s Kutch district.
The two companies will set up a commercial demonstration project at Ambuja Cements’ Sanghi plant in Kutch. The project will test a pathway to cut coal consumption to zero while allowing alternate fuels to be used flexibly.
The collaboration targets one of cement manufacturing’s biggest challenges — emissions from fuel. If successful, the Kutch demo could show a scalable model for decarbonizing cement production without relying on coal.
Ambuja Cements said the project aligns with its broader sustainability goals as the cement sector faces pressure to reduce its carbon footprint.
