The Indian Staffing Federation, apex body for the industry, reported that it added 1.18 lakh new formal flexi workers in the last 12 months. That’s an 8% year-on-year growth in employment, even as market sentiment stayed cautious through 2025 and 2026 due to geopolitical uncertainties worldwide.
According to ISF’s annual report for FY 2025–26, the total formal flexi workforce employed by its members hit 1.91 million as of March 2026.
The federation credits the growth to two factors: increasing formalisation of employment and sustained demand across sectors. Despite global challenges, companies continued turning to flexi staffing for workforce flexibility.
For India’s job market, the numbers signal a shift. More workers are moving into formal, regulated employment, even in roles traditionally seen as temporary or informal.
