Aurora alert: Northern lights possibly visible in India
New Delhi: Aurora Borealis, popularly called ‘northern lights’, is expected to be visible in India on June 8, 2026. A massive solar storm is forecast to make the phenomenon, usually seen in Nordic countries like Norway and Finland, appear in parts of the country.
The auroras are likely to be visible in higher regions of India. Areas include parts of Kashmir, the upper Himalayas of Uttarakhand, and Ladakh’s Pangong Tso lake and Hanle region.
Best viewing will depend on clear skies and low light pollution. Experts advise heading to elevated, dark locations after sunset for a chance to witness the lights.
