Visakhapatanam: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday called for a major push to boost India’s seafood exports to $30 billion over the next five years, nearly 3.5 times the current $8.5 billion.
Speaking at the National Workshop on Seafood Exports in Visakhapatnam, Goyal urged the industry to focus on quality and manufacturing of value-added products to secure better prices in international markets. “Let’s target $30 billion in the next five years,” he said.
The minister’s call comes as India looks to strengthen its position as a leading seafood exporter by moving up the value chain and meeting global standards for processed marine products.
