India’s GDP grows 7.7% in FY26, beats earlier estimate
New Delhi: India’s economy expanded faster than expected in 2025-26, with gross domestic product growth estimated at 7.7% for the full financial year, according to data released by the government on Friday.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation said GDP grew 7.8% in the fourth quarter of 2025-26. That lifts the full-year growth to 7.7%, up from 7.1% in 2024-25. The provisional estimate for 2025-26 is slightly higher than the 7.6% growth projected by the ministry in February 2026.
The stronger-than-forecast expansion reflects resilience in India’s economy amid global uncertainties.
