A.R. Rahman joins Shekhar Kapur as composer, co-producer for ‘Masoom: The New Generation’

Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman will reunite with filmmaker Shekhar Kapur for Masoom: The New Generation, a contemporary reimagining inspired by Kapur’s 1983 classic Masoom, the makers announced in a press release.

Rahman will compose the music for the film and also come on board as a co-producer. The project marks another collaboration between the two, who previously worked together on Kapur’s Elizabeth: The Golden Age and on the musical theatre productions Bombay Dreams and Why? The Musical.

Masoom, released in 1983, remains one of Kapur’s most acclaimed works. The new film is described as a contemporary take inspired by the original. Further details on the cast and release timeline are yet to be announced.
