From paralysed to thriving: Lamb Dottie rolls on with new wheelchair

When Aimee Walker first met Dottie, the “very cute” orphan lamb couldn’t stand or walk on her own. Paralysed, possibly due to a copper deficiency, Dottie’s future looked uncertain.

But Walker, 24, from Wrexham, wasn’t ready to give up. “I just didn’t want to give up on her,” she said. Walker, who has rescued animals for years, recently took in Dottie and another orphan lamb, Chip. Last month, Dottie’s life changed again — this time with wheels.

With help from her partner and a wheelchair donated by Winston’s Wheels Charity, Dottie can now explore the outdoors. She’s rarely alone. Best friend Chip stays by her side.

Dottie is “thriving,” Walker said. The lamb is improving slowly, showing signs of movement and strength, although she may never fully recover. That doesn’t matter to Walker. “I believe she’s got a good chance at life in the right environment, so she’ll stay forever.”
