Jyotika credits ‘Organic’ Bollywood second innings to South film career

Mumbai: Nearly twenty-six years after her Hindi debut, actor Jyotika says she is in the middle of an unexpected second innings in Bollywood — one that happened entirely by chance.

The actor, whose roles range from the fear-inducing Chandramukhi to the quietly heartbreaking Kaathal: The Core, will next be seen in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s upcoming courtroom drama System. “There was no conscious thought of coming to Hindi films. I came here for my kids and parents. After that, I started getting offers for work. It happened organically,” Jyotika said.

She added that her extensive work in South Indian cinema laid the groundwork for her current run in Hindi films. “I did a lot of films down South and because of that ground work, I am getting work in Hindi films now.”

Jyotika’s recent projects have showcased her range, with performances noted for the depth she brings through her expressions. System marks another addition to her growing Hindi film slate.
