At 84, late-blooming artist Pramod Wadnerkar to debut solo show in Kochi

Kochi: For 84-year-old Pramod Wadnerkar, painting still feels like a journey into the unknown, one that fills him with “a strange sense of joy.”

Wadnerkar took up art at the age of 70 and says he remains fascinated by the limitlessness of the medium. A writer as well, he spends his retired life between writing and painting, which he calls “the two strongest forces of his life.”

Thirty of his works will go on display in a solo exhibition titled In Quest of Eternal Beauty at Gaya Gallery in Kochi this weekend.

The show marks a milestone for Wadnerkar, whose late entry into art has not slowed his prolific output. The exhibition opens to the public on Saturday.
