Guitar virtuoso Stanley Jordan to debut tandem setup in India, playing two guitars at once

Mumbai: Jazz guitarist Stanley Jordan is set to present his tandem guitar setup in India for the first time, promising audiences a performance where he plays two guitars simultaneously.

“I’ll be presenting my tandem guitar setup in India for the first time ever; it comprises two guitars, and I play both at the same time,” said Jordan. “One is on a stand and I hold the other and the result is a fuller range of sounds and textures.”

Now 66, Jordan is known for an advanced form of two-handed tapping that lets him play melody and chords at once, even on a single instrument. His technique has also extended beyond guitar — he can play guitar and piano simultaneously.

The India shows will mark the debut of his dual-guitar rig on local stages, blending his signature touch technique with expanded sonic range. Dates and venues are expected to be announced soon.
