Bengaluru director Kevin Oliver to stage original musical ‘Odyssey of Love’

Bengaluru: Bengaluru-based theatre director Kevin Oliver will present a new musical, Odyssey of Love, in the city this week.

The production weaves music, fashion, dance and drama into “a theatrical experience,” according to the playwright. Despite having hits such as Cats, Starlight Express, and Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat to his credit, Oliver was keen to create an “original opera.”

“I thought Shakuntala was the perfect little fairy tale to loosely base my story on,” he said. “There is a king who enters a forest and finds this beautiful girl whom he falls in love with immediately, which never happens in real life,” he added with a laugh.
