17-Year-old Nivrritii Mahesh shines in Margazhi dance circuit
Chennai: The stage was set with a camera on a tripod aimed at the nattuvangam artiste, its live feed visible on a small monitor just feet from the performance area. Seventeen-year-old Bharatanatyam dancer Nivrritii Mahesh took the space with confidence and poise.
She opened her recital with a Gambhira Natai Ganesha invocation, followed by a rigorous Simhendramadhyamam varnam, a Chandrakauns keerthanam, Shama padam, and a lively Sindhubhairavi thillana performed with steady grace.
The recital was part of the Naada Sparsh programme, presented by SciArtsRUs under its Artabilities 4 All initiative. The performance for Kartik Fine Arts was held at Narada Gana Sabha’s mini hall.
Nivrritii also performed this season for Brahma Gana Sabha, Clarke School for the Deaf, Bharat Kalachar, RASA and Perambur Sangeetha Sabha. The young dancer said she looks forward to more opportunities during the Margazhi Season, as her work continues to draw attention across Chennai’s sabha circuit.
