‘Drishyam 3’ teaser out: Mohanlal’s Georgekutty returns as past threatens to resurface

Kochi: The teaser of Drishyam 3, the third film in the celebrated suspense-thriller franchise, was unveiled by the makers on Wednesday. The film, starring Mohanlal, is written and directed by Jeethu Joseph. It is slated to release on May 21.

The teaser hints that the past continues to haunt Mohanlal’s Georgekutty, the cable TV operator whose calm exterior has carried two of Malayalam cinema’s biggest hits. While plot details remain tightly guarded, the brief glimpse signals another tense cat-and-mouse game.

Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, Drishyam 3 brings back the core cast from the earlier films. Meena, Siddique, Asha Sharath, Murali Gopy, Ansiba Hassan and Esther Anil reprise their roles.

The Drishyam franchise began in 2013 and became a pan-India phenomenon, later remade in multiple languages. Drishyam 2 released directly on OTT in 2021 and was among the most-watched Malayalam films of the year. With the teaser dropping just weeks before release, anticipation is high among fans to see how Jeethu Joseph extends Georgekutty’s story this time.
