Violinist Jyotsna Srikanth re-launches ‘Bangalore Dreams’ with Carnatic Jazz Trio
Bengaluru-based violinist Jyotsna Srikanth is re-launching her 2015 EP Bangalore Dreams with the Jyotsna Carnatic Jazz Trio, marking the debut release for Tala Root Records, a new sub-label of Femme Music.
“I always believed learning the violin in both Eastern and Western classical styles would make me a complete musician,” Srikanth says. Known for bridging Carnatic and Western traditions, she recorded the original EP while living in the United Kingdom.
“Bangalore Dreams came into being at a time when I was homesick and nostalgic,” she explains. “Memories of home used to hit hard, and each track reflects one of those times.”Now relocated to Bengaluru, Srikanth says she hears the melodies differently. “Having moved back, I listen with a new perspective. The city isn’t just a memory anymore — it’s home again.”
The re-launch pairs her signature East-West approach with the Carnatic Jazz Trio, reinterpreting the EP through a live, collaborative lens. Tala Root Records will focus on projects blending Indian classical roots with contemporary forms, with Bangalore Dreams leading its catalogue.
