PM Modi to inaugurate Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor, cutting travel time to 2.5 hours

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor today, a 213-km-long, six-lane, access-controlled highway that promises to revolutionize travel between the national capital and Dehradun. The corridor, built at a cost of over ₹12,000 crore, is expected to reduce travel time from over six hours to just 2.5 hours.

The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor passes through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, and features several innovative design elements, including a 12-km-long elevated wildlife corridor, one of the longest in Asia, and a 370-metre tunnel near the Daat Kali temple. The project also includes 10 interchanges, three railway overbridges, four major bridges, and 12 wayside amenities.

The corridor is designed to boost regional economic growth, enhance connectivity between major tourism and economic centers, and promote sustainable development. With an Advanced Traffic Management System in place, the corridor is expected to provide a safer and more efficient travel experience for commuters.

Before the inauguration, PM Modi will review the Wildlife Corridor on the elevated section of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and offer prayers at the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple near Dehradun.
