Trilogy exhibition unveils shared artistic legacy at artworld – Sarala’s Art Centre

A unique exhibition, Trilogy, is underway at Artworld – Sarala’s Art Centre, showcasing the works of three prominent artists, C Douglas, K Muralidharan, and Rm Palaniappan. The show is a culmination of conversations and shared experiences, tracing back to the artists’ roots at the Government College of Fine Arts, Chennai (formerly Madras).

Curated by Bishwajit Banerjee, Trilogy highlights the artists’ distinct styles, shaped by their common academic background and individual journeys. “These artists are among the last significant voices of the Madras Art Movement,” says Banerjee. Despite their shared lineage, each artist has evolved in contrasting directions, making their collective showcase a fascinating exploration of artistic expression.

The exhibition is a testament to the enduring legacy of the Government College of Fine Arts, which has nurtured generations of artists from Tamil Nadu and beyond. Trilogy offers a glimpse into the artists’ inner worlds, inviting viewers to engage with their unique perspectives and experiences.
