Meet Shantilata Sahu: Sundargarh’s Drone Didi Revolutionising Agriculture
Sundargarh: In a remarkable transformation, Shantilata Sahu, a 34-year-old woman from Bandhbahal village, has become the only licensed female agricultural drone pilot in Sundargarh district. From managing household chores to flying drones, Shantilata’s journey is a testament to women’s empowerment.
With a BSc in Computer Science and support from her husband, she seized the opportunity to become a Namo Drone Didi under the Lakhpati Didi scheme. Now, she sprays fertilisers and pesticides on over 150 acres, charging ₹250 per acre.
Shantilata’s story showcases the impact of government initiatives on rural women’s lives. Her success has made her a local icon, inspiring others to break barriers and embrace technology. With her drone and autorickshaw, she’s proving that women can thrive in unconventional fields.
