Preserving India’s rich heritage: G Subbaramaiah’s post-retirement mission

Kurnool: G Subbaramaiah, a 66-year-old retired government official, has transformed his post-retirement life into a mission to promote India’s cultural heritage and social service. With a career spanning nearly four decades in the Department of Employment and Training, Subbaramaiah has continued to serve society through various means.

A prolific traveler, he has visited over 200 historically significant sites across 11 states, documenting cultural practices, architecture, and lifestyles of earlier generations. His work extends to authoring books and publishing 35 research articles, focusing on preserving cultural traditions.

Subbaramaiah’s contributions have earned him 18 awards and recognition from various organizations. “I consider it my duty to enlighten society about our nation’s culture, arts, and traditions that are fading away,” he said.

An active member of INTACH since 1987, Subbaramaiah’s journey shows that retirement is a new phase of contribution, driven by knowledge, service, and commitment to preserving heritage. His story is an inspiration to many, proving that age is just a number, and one’s passion for service knows no bounds.
