‘Forgotten Island’ review: Folklore and Friendship power visually dazzling adventure

New Delhi: Cute demon babies, vampires with detachable bodies, and other creatures inspired by Filipino folklore fuel Forgotten Island, a frenetic tale of friendship and memory.

The latest animation feature, written and directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, has many contenders for the cuteness sweepstakes. There is the three-eyed baby demon Bungi (Manny Jacinto), who is terrified of getting pink eye, the confused were-wolf/dog Raww (Dave Franco), Batiba (Jenny Slate) the memory demon, and Truffle Wuffle (Ronny Chieng) the king of the Duwende people.

Even the evil, terrifying Manang (Lea Salonga) has a tender backstory, while Prince Mermahn (Kevin McCann) brings charm to the visually dazzling adventure, according to a review by Mini Anthikad Chhibber published on September 27, 2026.
